The Mission of the Family Success Center is to promote the well being of the children by strengthen the families of Etowah County.

The Family Success Center is a non-profit organization that helps children and their families to make positive changes in their lives. The Center promotes the well-being of the children by strengthening the family through comprehensive and coordinated services focusing on self-sufficiency. The Center has been developed in partnership with the United Way of Etowah County, the City of Gadsden and Gadsden State Community College. The community support partners include Etowah County Commission, City and County Boards of Education, Community Development Block Grant Program, State of Alabama, Alabama Public Health Department, Mental Health Association, local churches and civic clubs. The Center opened in a temporary location in July 2001 while plans were being completed for the permanent facility which is a key part of the East Gadsden Revitalization Project. Construction was completed in August of 2006.

The vision for the Family Success Center began eleven years ago as the need for a “one-stop” social and family services center continued to be seen by agencies within Etowah County. Individuals and families with children did not have sufficient knowledge of the service providers in the area or of the depth of available programs. Coalitions of service agencies, health care providers, educators, career development specialists, church and civic organizations were formed to make this Center a reality. Properties were purchased by the City of Gadsden utilizing Community Development Block Grant dollars

Objectives of the Center

  • To help children and their families change their lives through consistent support.
  • Help families by meeting current, critical needs for health issues, nutritional needs, safe housing and financial assistance.
  • Provide comprehensive and coordinated services through community coalitions.
  • Partner with and community agencies to avoid duplication of services.
  • Strengthen the community’s capacity to care for families in a more effective and economical way.
  • Invest in supporting the family’s future goals to insure long term economic growth and workforce readiness for our community.
